GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The property is located in the historic 14th century Orsini Castle of Stimigliano, in the Tiber Valley in the province of Rieti.

It comprises two interconnected apartments, a private studio, the shared use of a private chapel, a courtyard and a warehouse, totalling approximately 600 m². There are also 1.2 hectares of agricultural land outside the castle walls.

Access to the castle is from the main square in Stimigliano. Crossing the drawbridge, you enter through an ancient ashlar portal into a large entrance hall decorated with 16th century ceiling paintings. From here you reach the first floor, where you can still see the reception rooms of the Orsini family: the hall, the antechamber and the bedroom. A historical toilet on this level has a spiral staircase leading to a small secret frescoed chamber. A staircase from the ground floor leads to a modern independent apartment of 100 square meters with two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a kitchen and balconies.

The two apartments, one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor, are connected internally and are decorated with frescoes from the school of Taddeo Zuccari. They have been recently restored.

The courtyard, renovated two years ago with a new floor of opus spicatum, gives access to the noble chapel, inaugurated in 1595, as stated in the epigraph, and to the private study, recently converted into a small apartment with bathroom and shower.
